Who is designAmerica?

designAmerica (DAI) is an aerospace company based in College Park, MD which provides expertise to NASA and the commercial space industry in the following areas:

Aerospace Ground System Software Development:

• DAI formed the core of the software team at NASA GSFC that designed and implemented the ASIST ground system, which has been used on NASA GSFC missions since 1994.
• DAI obtained the right to commercialize ASIST in 2003 (under NASA commercialization/tech transfer policy) so that we could debut our commercial product line to the broad and growing spacecraft industry (after our extensive changes and enhancements to fit the various commercial customers requirements and workflows). And starting in 2008, our Commercial ASIST product has been used on numerous important missions (which have all been both highly successful, and On-Time, On-Budget). Most significantly, our Commercial ASIST has been used in solar system exploration: including LCROSS to the Moon, MAVEN to Mars, OSIRIS-REx to Asteroid Bennu, OSIRIS-APEX now travelling to Asteroid Apophis through 2029, and LUCY now travelling to the Trojans Asteroids of Jupiter through 2033. • DAI developed numerous low-level GSE systems to control all forms of spacecraft component lab equipment.
  

Flight SW and Image Processing SW development:

• DAI team members designed and implemented the FSTOL (on-board automated spacecraft control system) to be used on RST (Nancy Roman Space Telescope), and the boot loader SW used on TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite).
• DAI team developed image processing software for the OSAM mission (On-orbit Servicing, Assembly, Manufacturing 1).
  

Spacecraft Operations and Testing Expertise:

• DAI team members have performed Spacecraft Test Engineering support (GSE design, implementation, test, component testing, spacecraft test conducting) on numerous NASA GSFC missions.
• DAI team members have worked on Mission Control Centers as operator and subject matter experts/system engineers for numerous missions.
